The Mechanic's Institute Library and Chess Club's Spiral Staircase

I had the privilege to enter the famous Mechanic's Institute Library and Chess Club in San Francsico and capture their famous spiral staircase. It is one of the Bay Area's hidden gems, that few Bay Area residents even know about. Not an easy place to photograph in, very low light, with off white almost yellowed walls, The don't allow any form of light modifier, tripods and mono pods are a no-no...so everything was hot with a hand held system....I cranked my ISO up to around 4500 thus there is a ton of grain At first I though the grain would be a detriment to the final photo...but somehow I like the tone and texture it provides. A great place to sneak into and fire off a few shots on a rainy day in San Francisco.
